Cowabunga Christmas: Day 24 (Nutcracker)

You've made it - the final day of Cowabunga Christmas! It's been a wild sleigh ride throughout the many eras of TMNT holiday merchandise. Tomorrow we celebrate Christmas, but today, we celebrate the last day of this countdown with the TMNT Nutcracker.

The weird and wacky TMNT items are my favorite to collect, making the TMNT Nutcracker a must. It's a such silly creation and has been my holiday holy grail for years. When it was released in 2008, I passed on the opportunity to purchase it. What a bozo! Years of regret have piled up with each passing holiday season, still kicking myself for not buying it. In that time, the TMNT Nutcracker has become a rarity. You don't see them often, if ever. In 2015, the punishment has finally lifted. I tracked down a TMNT Nutcracker. Let the angels sing.



Look as this stud. Solid wood and built to last. He could survive any attack by the Foot Clan with such durable craftsmanship. The merry mutant could easily be from several different eras of TMNT. His visual style is not very distinct, making him hard to place. But by being released in 2008s, I assume his likeness is from the 2007 movie. It'd be cool to have a complete army of ninja nutcrackers, but Raphael is also the only Turtle out of the team to get the festive mutation. I'm betting the red bandanna helped secure the spot.



Does the TMNT Nutcracker make a good gift?

Not only does the nutcracker make a good gift, it makes the best gift. It's a rare collectible that is weirder than fruitcake. And like fruitcake, it has its quirks. My only gripe is that it's decorative and not functional. The handle on Raphael's shell is just for show. Even worse is the area by his mouth, it's not even made of wood. Instead, it's a strange, plastic flap, painted to look like wooden opening. It's a cheap piece to an otherwise pristine piece. But, who cares?! It's a TMNT Nutcracker!
