Welcome to the 2014 edition of 24 Days of Turtle. The awesome advent calendar features daily TMNT Christmas-themed treasures. There's festive fun, gracious gifts, and Turtle Powered prizes!
Santa arrives on DAY 24, the FINAL DAY of the countdown.
RAPHAEL, THE TURTLE CLAUS
(1990)
Up from the sewers and down your chimney, the Sewer Santa has come to town. On the final day of 24 Days of Turtle, it's only appropriate for the jolly man, eh...Turtle, to make an appearance.
The plush measures in at a strong 18" tall and sports Santa-style from head to toe. For 24 years old, this dude is in pristine condition. His festive attire still flashes despite its age. The rich holiday red and green color combo radiate Christmas spirit.
The original tag dangles like an antique ornament from his right hand, delicate and timeworn. It's a glimpse into a Christmas of the past - 1990. You can see that Playmates created the seasonal plush, which is interesting considering the toy maker exclusively made (and still makes) action figures. Why did they go off the rails with an inaction, non-posable Raphael, The Turtle Claus? A Christmas miracle for sure.
By cutting a few threads, the tiny jacket and Santa cap are removable. But, do you really want your Turtle in only red pants and black boots? The look is more stripper than Santa. That might be someone's style, but not something you'd spot in The Sewer Den. My Raphael, The Turtle Claus keeps his clothes on.
Raphael is cool, but rude - and that applies here too. For a holiday focused on "goodwill towards to all," the dude could at least crack a smile. His grin is menacing instead of merry. The weird bandanna placement also skews his peepers, making his eye-line a little questionable. I'd prefer a jollier Raphael, The Turtle Claus, but I guess it wouldn't be a proper TMNT product without a wacky quirk.
Each day of 24 Days of Turtle will feature a Turtle-Powered present.
Raphael, The Turtle Claus is delivering a present for the final day of 24 Days of Turtle! Since this festive dude is from the 90s, his gift is too - the first 3 TMNT films on Blu-ray (or DVD).
It's easy to enter. Simply leave a comment and mention which 24 Days of Turtle entry was your favorite. Please include your email and/or Twitter handle. The winner will be selected at random and contacted on Tuesday, December 30th. The prize will be shipped soon after. Good luck!
