Trimming the 2007 Christmas tree on DAY 20 of the countdown.
2007 MOVIE ORNAMENT
(2010)
From the classic series to the current, 24 Days of Turtle has unearthed a time capsule of TMNT treasures. You can follow the progression of the franchise through its seasonal releases at Christmas time. But, one era of TMNT this countdown hasn't covered is the 2007 CGI movie. The film might not be a fan favorite, but it was no box office bomb either. The movie made a decent buck - sending more movie merchandise into stores, like this ornament.
With a Santa hat, Christmas lights, and even a snow-covered chimney, the busy ornament packs a merry punch. The design semi-resembles the characters from the movie. In addition to the mutant muscles, the timeless Turtle grin is properly on his face.
I'm still not sure which Turtle is squeezing down the chimney. The bandanna color is more of a jet black than purple or blue. Whoever he is, his slide down the chimney doesn't appear to be graceful. The poor guy looks stuck. Too many Christmas cookies?
Although it's a little awkward, the ornament is a win my book. It captures the cheery spirit of the holidays and represents a crucial turning point in Turtles history. Around the time this hit store shelves, Nickelodeon purchased the TMNT property. This ornament was released in the last wave of Mirage merchandise - before Nickelodeon's name was stamped on everything. The final trip down the chimney for Mirage, and it's a fun one.
Your collection of TMNT mini-stockings will now be complete! Today's gift is the missing piece of this Turtle puzzle - a scan of an original 1990 Donatello mini-stocking. Like the others, the image is pretty large. Resize it to your liking! Print onto an iron-on sheet and adhere it to felt to make your own stocking. Hang this clever dude from your mantel or Christmas tree.
With all these TMNT DIY mini-stockings, your home will have total sewer-style.
Check back tomorrow for DAY 21 of 24 Days of Turtle for more festive fun, gracious gifts, and possible prizes! Until then, stay jolly, dudes & dudettes!

Whichever Turtle it is, it reminds me of Pooh stuck in the honey jar for some reason, but this is a great Ornament for any tree for sure.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that they didn't just pick a Turtle and roll with it. Maybe it's meant to imply it could be either one of the Turtles..
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I enjoyed TMNT. It sorta reminds me of Ghostbusters 2.
I agree. Lots of fan rip on it, but I enjoyed it too. Good laughs and plenty of action. Silly plot, but fun.
DeleteI loved the 2007 TMNT movie!! I don't remember seeing this ornament, but I have others related to that movie, like the Cowabunga Carl van.
ReplyDeleteThat ornament rocks! I featured that one on last year's countdown. One of my favorites.

Sci-fi movies are an attempt to predict the conditions of the future through a movie. As for my personal taste, I love easter eggs in movies that project positive attitude in life and work.
